Air Pollution Awareness – Newcastle University

Short informative film commissioned by the Newcastle University as part of their HEALTH (HarnEssing Artificial intelligence to Lead Transformative Healthcare) program. Air pollution has a serious impact on our health. Pollutants in the air affect the whole body, including the lungs, eyes, nose, throat, and heart and the most vulnerable people in our society, like those with existing health conditions and from low-income communities, are affected more often.

The Value of Work – Renfrewshire Council, Scotland

The Renfrewshire Council in Scotland commissioned me to develop a short animation around employability for an all-age group, illustrating the typical employability journey and explaining all the supports on offer. There are mental barriers in the public when it comes to seek employment help from the council, so the aim was to dissipate these fears and encourage people to take that first step.

The animation had such a positive response it has been repurposed by 18 additional councils throughout Scotland.

Girls Get Equal – Plan International

This animation was created for Plan International Asia-Pacific to help spread their ethos and promote their work. They were keen to develop an umbrella series of animations that convey different messages to different target audiences. The episodes would focus on Plan International’s regional influencing strategy.

The scripts were brilliantly workshopped with local young people by N’Deane Helajzen who has been working independently as a Gender Based Violence specialist since 1999.

The PG Online Story

Short company film created for Branding strategists On Three in London and art directed by the talented designer Louisa Fitch from Sugarway Ltd, we helped direct and plan the animation side of things. The shoot was set as a top down view of a teacher’s desk on which we wanted to create the illusion of stop motion. For that purpose some sections were shot on green screen, a great portion were rehearsed and most of them were a combination of live action and compositing in After Effects. We also crafted a couple of basic but very effective rigs for the key shots.

The client were the innovative education company PG Online, who make brilliant teaching resources. This was a wonderful project from start to finish with a highly creative and open minded team.

Give it up Campaign – CAFOD

Catholic aid agency CAFOD came up with a social media campaign to spruce up the idea of fasting during lent with a modern twist by challenging children to give something up and donate the money they save to help poor communities, alternatively they can think of something more challenging and get sponsored to give it up. The basic idea is to give up something from their everyday life and turn it into something useful for other: Turn treats into toilets, Turn apps into taps, Turn fast food into fresh food, and so on.

Giveitup---

CAFOD supplied all the artwork and my job was to come up with the transition between one item and the next and bring it to life in the way of social media friendly animated gifs.

The campaign won Runner Up for Best use of Social Media at Premier digital awards in late 2018.

Genius Within – Neurodiversity

Genius Within CIC the company founded by chartered Psychologist Nancy Doyle, asked me to create for them an animated journey that outlines what they do as a company but that at the same time served to explain the idea of Neurodiversity and its importance in the workplace not only as a society but also the advantages of an inclusive environment for Companies.

I mapped out their explanations in a large diagram and then plotted camera movements and framing; treasure map meets storyboard.

FlingBrook

This is probably one of the most satisfying corporate videos we’ve worked on. Mostly because it doesn’t feel that corporate and it doesn’t have that ominous “hard sell” feeling to it.
Under the direction of talented director Cath Elliott, Studio Tinto animated this online promotional video for FlingBrook, a leading live video streaming agency. It haves us the chance to test some new character animation tools we’ve been itching to try.
