“A temporary tax on excess profits made by 32 big US corporations during the pandemic could have raised $104 billion in 2020, enough to provide unemployment benefits for all workers in low and mid income countries.”
Studio Tinto was commissioned to create these two short films for Oxfam International to raise awareness about the monumental inequality that the Covid crisis is exacerbating. Translated to English, German, Danish, Arabic, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish and Dutch; these were used in their campaign during the World Economic Forum in Davos 2020.
The client wanted a change from the usual ‘charity’ tone of voice but be more blunt, hitting the audience with hard truths that would shake them into action. This is why we chose a collage style, there’s something guerrilla and subversive about it that we thought would convey their message the way they were after.
